Road Bike Brakes

Though there are many components in a bike, the braking system consisting of brakes, brake pads are very important in the point of view of a safety. This helps to control the speed and stop when it has to stop. There are different types of bike brakes for different purposes. The design of brake system will vary depending on the use. Mountain riding brake design will not suit for normal conditions.

The function of the break system is that when the hand brake or leg brake is applied it will stop the brake pad and will give power to stop either the rim or the hub of the wheel resulting in complete stopping of the bike. Some brake pads could be used for multiple purposes. Hence one has to ensure and check the brake pad alignment for safety reasons.

Disc brakes require only less amount of effort to apply the ciamillo brakes. If the tires are wide disc brake could be used. Longer arms of the rim brakes cannot support the wider tire. Disc brake assemblies are also heavier than the rim brakes. Hence the disc brakes are costlier than the rim brakes.

The latest development in the field of road bike brakes is Hydraulic brake. This acts in the principle of pushing the hydraulic fluid down a hose towards the bike brakes.
