My Pledge

I believe that it is time to change the way we view our City.

The image of Oakland continues to suffer. I want to help make District 3 a vibrant, innovative and joyful place to be. Our children deserve it. Our elders worked for it. We need it.

My priorities include promoting balanced development in my neighborhood to create jobs with liveable wages; promoting social programs and community policing to create safer neighborhoods and support the development of young people; and creating more participation and transparency in government as we do “the people’s business.”

I have a particular interest in working with Black and Brown youth to increase their life chances with better education, jobs, and safe, fun things to do.

It is time to articulate a vision for civic well-being in Oakland which reflects the collective spirit of those who chose to make this City their home. I have a vision of raising our children well, providing opportunities for young adults, and supporting of our elders in the pursuit of physical, intellectual, spiritual, emotional and environmental safety and wellness.
