Greg Hodge is married and the father of four children. They live in West Oakland with their dog, Soul. Collectively the Hinton-Hodges are athletes, performers, musicians and scholars.
Imani, age 14, is a high school student, has studied circus arts and is a member of her school’s track team. She is an active member in church and is a Big Sister in the Sisters of Tomorrow Rites of Passage program. She loves music, reading, television and bowling.
Kumi, age 16, is a senior in high school and will attend Stanford University in the Fall. He’s a member of a championship ultimate Frisbee team and is a calculus junkie. He likes bowling, too.
Chukwudi, age 19, is an accomplished percussionist. He has studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and is the resident drummer for local Hip Hop band, The Get Back. He is also well versed in West African percussion. Chukwudi plays djembe, djun djun and kring. He loves bowling more than the rest of the children.
Chinaka, age 23, is a writer and performer. She graduated from New York University in 2006, and works for Youth Speaks, a San Francisco based non-profit. She has appeared on two episodes of HBO’s Def Poetry and is horrible at bowling.
Jumoke Hinton-Hodge is Greg’s wife. She has spent the last 20 years of her professional life as an advocate, service provider and consultant in the youth development, community building and mental health fields in the Bay, with the last 6 years focusing on West Oakland.
